This morning I went running again, and learned of the fabulous road side manners of Costa Rica! It is competley opposite from the states, becasue instead of pedestrians having the right of way...the cars do!! And let me tell you, they wont stop for anything if you are in their way! The roads here are so narrow and curvey, so you have to always be on guard when you are running. Also, dogs here are like squirrles back at home. I must see like ten or fifteen dogs while I run..and it takes a lot for me not ,to stop and pet them bc i didnt get my rabies shot!!
After breakfst today we had some downtime before class, so a friend and I went on a little adventure hike. I sae the most beautiful views I probably have ever seen in my life...I will go back sometime before I leave to take pictures. We picked oranges and mangos whuile we were out, and looked at all of these neat plants. I saw one that would curl up if you touched it...right before your eyes! it was soo neat. When we got back to the dorms we found out that class started at 8:30 rather than 9:00 like we thought! SOO embarrasing walking into your second day of class 8 min. late...and its prooobably not the best impression to leave on the professor..oh well, nothing I can do about it now, and I really dont think I would do anything over again if I could go back in time..I think that little hike was 100 times better than any class I have to sit through.
Mom, the forecast will probably say T-stroms alll month...but its still sunny and hot here..Today was sooo beautiful. we had to take a swimming test this afternoon and I got to just sit in the sun wil palm trees and mango trees surrounding..it was like a tropical paradise.
The classes here are definatley not what I expected them to be. There are three different classes, but combined into one class (if that makes sense) totalling 4 credit hours. But I feel like I am way out of my league kind of...we are learning about economic and political things during class..and I have never in my life taken a class on economics (dwanny I need ya) Its a good thing my Godparents gave me the smart pen for christmas...becasue I can listen to the lectures over and over again if I want to. Althogh I am really trying hard not to let this class stress me out, i really dont want it getting in the way of me enjoying this once in a life time experience.
That is all for now, I have to go read some more things on the socioeconomic situation of costa rica....sounds fun right?! Love you and miss you..keep the comments coming I lovee reading them!

ReplyDeleteps you missed a great reba showing on the CMT music awards tonight, but dont worry...you can always youtube it when you get back :)
It is the hikes in the wild and runs through the streets and experiences with the locals where you will get to learn and understand the true economics of their world. That’s what you should focus on as knowledge learned in a class room is limited. Out side of the class room…knowledge is endless. You are smart, very smart. Just remember...people are just as worried, just as scared, just as nervous as everyone else. The difference is how people express those emotions. You are a strong person. But know it is important in life to not just be strong but to feel strong.
ReplyDeleteI’m happy for you.
Love you
tj
