Pura Vida!

Yesterday was a very long and busy day, I spent most of it studying for our first exam we had today. However, I was able to enjoy the studying more becasue I sat out by the pool catching some rays ALL WHILE studying my notes. Later in the evening we had a choice on whether or not to go play soccer with some local ticos, or stay back at the field station and study. My fist instinct was of course to stay behind and use the time to study my notes and flashcards, however, upon further examination of the situation, I concluded that I had studied enough, I went to class, did the readings, took notes during class, re-wrote my notes, and made an insane amount of flash cards that I had studied for many days prior. SO I decided to go...YES...you read that correctly, I- Alyson Jude Sliman- did in fact go out the night before an exam o play soccer and have fun. I guess the Pura Vida lifestyle is growing on me, and I can only hope to continue this type of mindset when I go home. I want to continue to enjoy the moments I have wherever I am, to work hard, do the best I possibly can, and let whatever happen-just happen. I cannot dwell on past events, and I cannot look to the future, becasuse in doing so I am not living in the present, and I miss out on the many experiences life has to offer. Tomorrow morning we leave for the field until Monday night. Over the four days we will be collecting data that we will then write a report on next week. We will be in a hotel, which should have internet access, so i should be able to contunie with my blog posts. That is all for now, love you and miss you all!

  6. I'm glad you went out and had fun! Sometimes getting your mind off the material helps you more than excessively studying it! Sounds like you did well in the game! What an awesome experience, playing soccer in a country such as Costa Rica! Have fun, enjoy yourself, work hard, play harder, and see you in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!!!!
