The Magic of Moms

Today, after a long day of field trips, lectures, bus rides, presentations, and studying, I was feeling a little overwhelmed. However, I knew the perfect remedy to cure my worries-my mom. I was able to call home and talk to her this afternoon. We could only talk for about 15 min. and all we talked about was both of our days and what we did, yet that was all I needed to dispel the worries I had withing me. I think it's funny how moms know how to fix everything from a scrapped knee, to a broken heart, to her childs worries even when she is over 2,000 miles away from home. So thanks mom, for your words, your comfort, and simply your voice. I love you.

  1. wow! That must have been a powerful conversation! (Just kidding...i loved it) Had a lovely evening with my two beautiful granddaughters and they are both sleeping and it is quiet...listening to the news for the first in a long time and find it so sad how this oil spill has affected sooooo many people. We all need to pray for an answer to this disaster.
Alyson, I am so glad that you are there enjoying a part of the world that hopefully is untouched by human hands (for the most part)
    love you

  4. As I hugged my mom before getting out of the car for summer gym on Friday at 9 AM, knowing I wouldn't see my mom again until 4 PM Sunday, I couldn't help but to think of you and your own mom. I experienced just a sliver of what you are as for three days I was away from home with no cell phone or contact. Despite that, I had a life-changing experience in Steubenville as I know you are in Costa Rica! I can't wait to hear all about your adventures, and now share my own with you!
